NBA standings 2012: Warriors still steady, Kings still in the cellar

The Golden State Warriors have been in fifth place in the Western Conference for awhile, while the Sacramento Kings are just trying not to fall into last place.

The Golden State Warriors are in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race while the Sacramento Kings are celebrating finally winning their 10th game of the season. The Bay Area teams are living different lives and it is reflected in their respective places in the conference standings.

The Warriors are currently the fifth seed in the West with a 20-10 record and have won seven of their last 10 games. The Warriors trail only the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies. The Clippers are also the Pacific Division leaders having won 16 straight games. The Warriors are followed by the Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Sacramento Kings are in second-to-last place in the West at 10-19 with only the New Orleans Hornets trailing them. They are also last in the Pacific Division and have won only three of their last 10 games.
