Warriors' Klay Thompson contributes negatively in loss

Second-year guard Klay Thompson played a key role in the Warriors' home loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

Mental errors and poor shot selection plagued second-year guard Klay Thompson in the Golden State Warriors' 107-101 double-overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.

Two missed free throws in the first overtime followed by poor shot selection and failure to foul when the Warriors had one to give at a critical point in the contest all point to the kind of mistakes that drive coaches crazy. The most notable error Thompson made was a 3-point shot he took from the corner with 1:33 left in the second overtime that resulted in a quick change of possession as the Warriors held a four-point lead at the time. There were 15 second left on the shot clock when he took the shot.

He finished the game 9-of-26 from the field and and was 5 for 15 from the three-point line in a career-high 55 minutes. Incredibly, his two missed free-throws were his only two attempts in the game.

He'll have a chance to rebound when the Warriors face the Atlanta Hawks at the Oracle on Wednesday.
