Stephen Curry injury update: Guard to play Monday night

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will play Monday night against the Utah Jazz, marking the first time he has played in a game in seven months, CSN Bay Area reports.

Curry has been sidelined with a sprained right ankle that caused him to miss a majority of last season. Curry played in 26 games in the lockout-shortened season in 2011-12. He averaged 14.7 points per game and 5.3 assists per game.

Warriors coach Mark Jackson held Curry out of Sunday's preseason game against the Lakers. Jackson has limited Curry throughout practice to make sure he doesn't aggravate his rehabilitating ankle. He said he wanted Curry to return from his injury in front of the home crowd.

Curry last played on March 11. He was given medical clearance to partake in all basketball activities on Sept. 20.

The Warriors opened the preseason with a 110-83 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
