The Golden State Warriors visit the Phoenix Suns in the first game of the regular season for both teams on Wednesday night. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and will be televised on Comcast Sports Network HD in the Bay Area.
The Warriors are looking to improve and stay healthy with a young team in 2012-13. Lottery pick Harrison Barnes will be starting from day one, as head coach Mark Jackson hopes the rookie can have an immediate effect. Second-year guard Klay Thompson will be in the starting lineup to begin the season this year, after finishing his initial campaign out of Washington State on a high note.
Golden State is hoping another sharpshooting former first-round pick, Stephen Curry, will be able to join Thompson in the backcourt. Curry is recovering from injury and has practiced this week after missing a large chuck of last season.
David Lee will return in the frontcourt for the Warriors, but who starts alongside him is still up in the air. Like Curry, Andrew Bogut's status for the opener is still uncertain.
Phoenix comes into this game in their first season without Steve Nash in a long time. Nash moved to the Lakers this offseason as the Suns look to rebuild following a .500 year.
