The Stanford Cardinal defense is having their way with Colorado, holding them to 21 net total yards in the first half as Stanford leads, 35-0. The Buffaloes are just 6-of-12 through the air and have negative-two net rushing yards, despite having possessed the ball for a majority of the first half.
If Kevin Hogan is auditioning for a starting job, he couldn't have put in a better half. He looks comfortable in the Stanford offense and has connected on 11-of-15 attempts for 111 yards, and rushed for another 24. The redshirt freshman has been on the field for four drives, all of which went for a Stanford touchdown.
Stepfan Taylor leads the team on the ground with 43 yards and two touchdowns. He very nearly had two more, but was pushed out of bounds at the 2-yard line on one drive, and tackled just before the goal line on another. Jamal-Rashad Patterson adds another 42 yards.
The Stanford defense has been making themselves at home in the Colorado backfield, picking up five sacks in the half, two of which have gone to Henry Anderson.
