NCAA football rankings, week 12: Stanford moves up two spots, Oregon is new No. 1

The Stanford Cardinal are now in the top 15 in the country but they are still chasing the top team in the Pac-12 in the Oregon Ducks.

The Associated Press college football poll was released on Sunday morning and the Stanford Cardinal moved up two spots to No. 14.

The Cardinal are now the second-highest ranked Pac-12 team behind the new No. 1 team in the country, the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks received 45 first-place votes after dispatching of the California Golden Bears on Saturday, 59-17. The Alabama Crimson Tide dropped to No. 4 after suffering their first loss of the season at the hands of the Texas A&M Aggies, who moved into the top 10 at No. 9.

The No. 2 Kansas St. Wildcats, No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs make up the rest of the top five. Five of the top nine teams in the country are in the SEC but due to them all beating up on one another, this season may see two non-SEC teams in the national championship game for the first time since 2005.
