Oregon State vs. Stanford score update: Cardinal trail 23-21 to Beavers after 3rd quarter

The No. 14 Stanford Cardinal opened the second quarter with a 14-0 lead, but have yet to score since and now find themselves trailing 23-21 to No. 11 Oregon State Beavers after three quarters of play at Stanford Stadium.

The Beavers scored 23 consecutive points and the defense toughened up in the following quarters, allowing just one touchdown and forcing two turnovers, including one just outside Oregon State's 20 yard line.

The aforementioned play happened to be the most exciting play of the game, keeping the Cardinal in the game when it looked like it was getting out of reach. The pocket collapsed on quarterback Kevin Hogan, but the freshman was able to dump the ball off to star running back Stepfan Taylor before hitting the ground. The senior running back stiff armed his way for 40 yards and the touchdown.

After allowing points to Oregon State on five of the past six drives, Stanford's defense will need to play stout if they want to get back into the game.
