Stanford's defense would be tested if ESPN's projections came true in terms of the Cardinal's bowl game opponent.

The Bay Area could get some good games to cheer for during the bowl season if ESPN's projections for the Stanford Cardinal's bowl season come true.

The Cardinal are currently projected to play either the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Valero Alamo bowl or the West Virginia Mountaineers in the Bridgepoint Education Holiday bowl.

The Red Raiders are ranked No. 18 in the BCS standings while the Mountaineers sit at No. 21. The Red Raiders and Mountaineers both have explosive offenses with the Red Raiders ranked 12th in the country in points per game (40.5) and third in passing yards (357.9), while the Mountaineers are ninth in points per game (41.1) and fifth in passing yards (352.4).

The Cardinal would have their hands full with both teams, but each would make for very intriguing matchups.

The San Jose St. Spartans are projected to play in either the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl against the Kent St. Golden Flashes or the Beef ‘O' Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl against the Toledo Rockets.
