BCS rankings 2012: Stanford No. 20 in first BCS standings of season

Despite the controversial loss to Notre Dame on Saturday, the 4-2 Cardinal find themselves at No. 20 in the first BCS standings of the season.

The Stanford Cardinal lost a controversial overtime contest , 20-13, to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday in South Bend, Ind. Despite the loss, the 4-2 Cardinal are ranked No. 20 in the first BCS standings of the season.

After seven weeks of the college football regular season, the Alabama Crimson Tide are atop the initial BCS rankings. SEC foe Florida came in at No. 2, with the Oregon Ducks holding the No. 3 spot, Kansas State No. 4 and the team that beat Stanford, Notre Dame, at No. 5.

Four Pac-12 teams made the initial BCS rankings, with Oregon State at No. 8, and USC at No. 10, joining Stanford and Oregon in the standings.

Stanford hits the road next weekend, to take on the rival California Golden Bears.
