No. 17 Stanford Cardinal have a big road matchup against No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday.
Stanford has beaten the Fighting Irish the last three seasons, but this year it might be a bit of a tougher task. Notre Dame has opened the season 5-0 for the first time since 2002 and is coming off of an impressive 41-3 victory over the Miami Hurricanes. The Cardinal look for some consistency from quarterback Josh Nunes, who was stellar in wins against the USC Trojans and Arizona Wildcats but struggled against the Washington Huskies in a loss sandwiched between those two wins.
Meanwhile, in other Bay Area Pac-12 schools, the Cal Golden Bears head to the Pullman, Washington to take on the Washington State Cougars. Both teams are sitting at 2-4 overall, and the Cougars are hungry for their first Pac-12 win of the 2012 season. Cal is coming off of an impressive 43-17 win over then ranked No. 25 UCLA Bruins last week. The Cougars meanwhile have lost three straight.
San Jose State opens WAC conference play with a matchup against the 4-2 Utah State Aggies. SJSU has rattled off four straight wins since losing to Stanford 20-17 to open the season. That game will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1:00 p.m. and will be broadcast online on ESPN3.
