Despite having the weekend off, the Stanford Cardinal climbed one spot in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll, moving from No. 9 to No. 8.

Stanford, like the rest of the country, continues to chase No. 1 Alabama, which received all but one of the poll's first-place votes. The Cardinal's Pac-12 rival Oregon Ducks climbed as well, boosting themselves past the LSU Tigers for the No. 2 spot on the strength of the Ducks' 49-0 victory over the Arizona Wildcats.

The Cardinal next hit the field against the Washington Huskies on Thursday, as Stanford looks to solidify its claim to a top-10 spot in the country. The Cardinal currently sit just 10 points ahead of the No. 9 West Virginia Mountaineers in the AP Poll.

The USC Trojans, whom the Cardinal beat to earn their spot among the top of the rankings, remain outside the top 10 at No. 13 after beating the California Golden Bears.
