Bob Bowlsby took over the position of athletic director at Stanford in 2006, and probably his most notable move at Stanford was the hiring of Jim Harbaugh as the football head coach. Stanford has just added to their Director's Cup victories with two BCS bowl appearances.
Is he ready to move on?
Sources confirm original report by @ESPNAndyKatz that Stanford AD Bob Bowlsby, 60, has been offered the Big 12 commissioner's job.

Bowlsby has been lot of his leadership outside of his position as Stanford
Throughout his career, Bowlsby has emerged as a national leader in intercollegiate and amateur athletics. Bowlsby also served as a member of the NCAA/U.S. Olympic Committee Task Force chaired by Cedric Dempsey and George Steinbrenner.
He was the chair of selection committees that hired USOC CEO Scott Blackmun and current Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott. Bowlsby previously served as President of the NCAA Division I-A Athletic Directors’ Association (2002-03), chair of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee for two years (2003-05) and a committee member for five years, chair of the Big Ten Administrator’s Council (2002-04) and chair of the NCAA Management Council.
