2012 NFL Combine Results: David DeCastro Shows Power In Bench Press

The NFL Combine wrapped up its third day with offensive linemen and tight ends going through the bench press drill. Stanford offensive guard David DeCastro did nothing to dispel the fact that he is as strong as they come, pumping out 34 lifts on the bench press. DeCastro finished second only to Michigan's David Molk who pumped out 41 lifts on the bench press.

DeCastro has been considered a mid-first round projection thus far and nothing has changed that thus far. His arms measured right around what was expected and it is unlikely that he would switch out to right tackle initially. If he had been able to make that move, his stock might have risen a little bit given the versatility.

Nonetheless, there is nothing to indicate he will not be the first guard taken off the board in April. He is drawing comparisons to All-Pro offensive guard Steve Hutchinson. If he slides down past 15, teams could be looking at quite a steal.
