The Stanford Cardinal lead 43-3 and continued to roll in the third quarter of their season opener against San Jose State Spartans. Stanford put up 16 more points in the third quarter.

On the Spartan's very first play of the second half, the Cardinal recorded a safety off of a fumble by Matt Faulkner. Quarterback Andrew Luck led the Cardinal 79 yards down the field on the following drive to score, capped by a three-yard rush by Stepfan Taylor. Taylor pounded in another one-yard score later in the period. He has 61 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Luck has completed 17 of 26 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns. He also has nine rushing yards and one rushing touchdown on two carries.

The Cardinal should be pleased with their performance thus far. The offense has amassed 267 yards while the defense has held the Spartans to just 182 yards. The defense also hasn't given up a touchdown yet.

The Cardinal have one more quarter before they close out their first win of the 2011 season.
