College Football Rankings 2011: AP Poll Moves Stanford Ahead Of Florida State

The week four AP poll was released Sunday morning and as expected, the Stanford Cardinal climbed up one spot from No. 6 to No. 5. The move came thanks to Florida State's 23-13 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners. The Seminoles tied the game at 13 early in the fourth quarter but Oklahoma was too much for FSU the rest of the way. We'll have the complete rankings as soon as they're released. For now, your top ten are as follows:

1. Oklahoma
2. LSU
3. Alabama
4. Boise State
5. Stanford
6. Wisconsin
7. Oklahoma State
8. Texas A&M
9. Nebraska
10. Oregon

Stanford opened their Pac-12 season with a 37-10 victory over the Arizona Wildcats that was a lot closer than that early on. The Cardinal led 16-10 at halftime and maintained that lead thanks in part to Arizona missing multiple field goals. The Wildcats could get nothing going consistently on offense and finally Stanford broke the game open in the fourth quarter.

The rest of the top of the poll saw LSU and Alabama continue their weekly shuffle between No. 2 and No. 3. LSU defeated a ranked Mississippi State team while Alabama beat up on winless North Texas. Barring any earlier losses, these two schools will likely continue this shuffle until their November 5 showdown in Tuscaloosa.

Of course, Alabama faces a tough home matchup against the ranked Arkansas Razorbacks next week while LSU travels to Morgantown to face a ranked West Virginia squad. The Cardinal are on a bye but could still continue their upward movement with an upset in either or both of these games.
