Stanford Vs. Duke: Cardinal Lead 37-7 As Fourth Quarter Gets Underway

The Stanford Cardinal lead the Duke Blue Devils 37-7 less than a minute into the fourth quarter. The Cardinal extended their 17-7 halftime lead with two touchdowns in the third quarter and another one to start the fourth.

Duke received the kickoff to start the second half and got a big return from Jordan Williamson. The team moved down the field and then faced a 4th and 6 at the Stanford 14-yard line. The Blue Devils went for it, but quarterback Sean Renfree's pass fell incomplete and Stanford took over on downs.

A few short rushes by Stepfan Taylor Tyler Gaffney got the Cardinal offense to their own 40-yard line. Luck then connected with receiver Coby Fleener for a 60-yard score (watch it here).

The Blue Devils fumbled deep in their own territory (at their own 33-yard line) on the next possession, and Stanford took advantage with a 30-yard rushing touchdown by Jeremy Stewart (check it out here). Kicker Jordan Williamson missed the extra point.

The Cardinal scored again on a 4th and 2 at Duke's three-yard line at the beginning of the fourth, deciding to go for it and reaping the benefits when Luck hit Zach Ertz for a three-yard score.

Luck seems to have quieted down the criticism for his pick-six in the second quarter with three touchdowns. He has completed 20 of 29 passes for 294 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Taylor leads the rushing attack with 75 yards on 13 carries and Chris Owusu, who had big plays in the first half, has 106 yards and one touchdown on seven receptions.
