It's hard to imagine a more disparate tandem than one of the hardest hitting talents in all of baseball and one of the silliest mascots in all of sports. But this is what we're getting in the latest SportsCenter spot featuring Atlanta Braves right fielder Jason Heyward and the Stanford Cardinal tree. We saw a little video leak out from Bristol of the clumsy looking twig dancing his way toward a rather unfortunate fate, although it wasn't actually a real commercial. Perhaps ESPN also recognizes that the mascot is made to be mocked. Every possible situation where the Tree fails, everyone wins. ESPN gets something funny, Stanford gets free pub, and everyone else mocks the Tree.
It turns out that the commercial spot isn't any kinder to him. He's got a lot of work to do. Check it out after the jump, and let us know your thoughts on the commercial in the comments!
