Stanford vs. Arizona State Gambling Odds: Easy Money To Be Had?

New, 1 comment

For those that enjoy placing the occasional wager on a football game, this weekend’s matchup between Stanford and Arizona State could provide an opportunity for some quick cash. According to Odds Shark, you can get Stanford as a four-and-a-half to six-point favorite depending on your site of choice. Arizona State’s inconsistency might make some folks wary of betting against them, as they hung close with Wisconsin early in the season. However, they were blown out by Cal and Oregon.

At this point in the season, Stanford is 5-3 against the spread while Arizona State is 5-2 against the spread. ASU is 2-0 at home against the spread, while Stanford is 3-1. I suppose the stats would be in ASU’s favor, but consider it just a strong feeling about Stanford. They have to be flying high after their beat down of Arizona and seeing their BCS ranking climb so high.

Although margin of victory is technically not factored into any aspect of the BCS rankings, we all know huge victories can sway the voters in the USA Today/Coaches Poll and the Harris Poll. Arizona State isn’t a great team, or even a particularly good team, but a big road victory by Stanford could get them some needed upward movement. Such movement would only improve its BCS ranking, so Stanford will not only be looking to cover, but cover big time.
