The BlogPoll Top 25 came out today and the Stanford Cardinal football team has climbed to No. 6 in these college football rankings. Stanford was actually leapfrogged by LSU thanks to the Tigers' big win over Alabama. However, Stanford is within striking distance of LSU. The Tigers are taking on a fairly weak Louisiana-Monroe squad while Stanford battles a struggling Arizona State that might have a bit more name recognition.
The majority of votes for Stanford came in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, but they did receive votes as high as No. 4. Rise Northwestern actually voted then No. 14, which was two spots higher than their previous No. 16 ranking. One drawback to subjective college football polls is that once a team is voted in a certain position because of certain pre-conceived notions, it's tough for a voter to then move them further up to where they belong, as opposed to playing the charade of slowly moving them along as they win.
