2010 BCS Rankings, Week 8: Stanford Drops To 13th, Auburn Rises To No. 1

The Bowl Championship Series released their second rankings of the 2010 college football season and Stanford has dropped from 12th to 13th following their 38-28 victory over the Washington State Cougars. Although Stanford won, there was a significant amount of activity around them that caused the drop. Wisconsin’s narrow victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes propelled them from 13th to 10th. Even though schools like Oklahoma and LSU lost, they did not fall far enough to help the Cardinal.

The new number one team in the BCS is Auburn, which was able to ride its seven point victory over LSU to the top of rankings. Although Oregon walloped on UCLA 60-13, it did not sufficiently impress the computers to climb to number one. In fact, although Oregon’s average climbed from .8921 to .9069, their deficit behind the number one team actually increased from .0294 to .0302.
