The San Jose St. Spartans will face the Bowling Green Falcons on December 27th in the 2012 Military Bowl. The bowl will take place in Washington D.C. in RFK Stadium, home of the NFL's Washington Redskins. The game is expected to be televised on ESPN at noon Pacific time.
The Spartans finished 10-2 on the season, with their only losses coming to ranked Stanford and Utah State. They finished second in the WAC behind the Aggies and 24th overall in the final BCS rankings. Bowling Green finished in second place in the MAC East behind Kent State, going 6-2 in-conference.
The Military Bowl traditionally features a game between the Atlantic Coast Conference and either Conference USA or a service academy like Army. However, the ACC nor Army were eligible for the bowl, so Bowling Green and San Jose State ended up getting scooped for this game. There might be difficulty in drawing a huge crowd without a local school, but expect San Jose State to try and rise to the challenge.
