The San Jose State Spartans will play in the 2012 Military Bowl in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 27. The game was going to matchup the No. 8 team from the ACC against Army, but that is no longer a possibility. Only six teams from the ACC can be bowl eligible this year and Army finished 2-9, keeping them from bowl eligibility as well. It is unknown who will play the Spartans.
San Jose State finished their season 10-2 with a 5-1 record in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), second to Utah State. The Spartans are currently ranked No. 25 in the BCS Standings and their two losses on the season came to two other top 25 teams in Stanford and Utah State. The Spartans feature the 11th-ranked passing offense in the country, averaging 327.5 yards per game through the air.
This is the third year for head coach Mike MacIntyre at San Jose State. He turned the team around from a 1-11 record in his first season to a 10-2 record this year and their first bowl appearance since a 2006 New Mexico Bowl victory.
