San Jose State vs. Idaho: Spartans looking to end skid against Vandals

If you were to guess the one game that the Idaho Vandals were going to win each year, it'd be wise to put your money down on their matchup against San Jose State.

Idaho may only be 16-22 over the past three seasons, but they've yet to lose to the Spartans in that period with three straight victories by four points or fewer. Here's what SJSU defensive end Travis Johnson told the Mercury News about his team's three-game losing streak to the Vandals:

"We thought we were doing good against them last year and then they came back to win...There's never a time we can let down, especially knowing that I've never beat them and no one on this team ever has."

If the Spartans are unable to come out victorious this weekend against Idaho with the way the Vandals' season has been going, they should be absolutely ashamed.

Jason Gesser will be making his Idaho head coach debut against the Spartans after Robb Akey was fired two weeks ago with the team sitting at 1-7. The Vandals will also have a new starter at quarterback in the form of Logan Bushnell after Dominique Blackman was kicked off the team earlier in the week for violating team rules.

Still, one has to wonder if the Vandals are just in San Jose State's head by this point:

"Our kids remember getting beat at Idaho a couple years ago. They remember the heartbreaker last year," SJSU coach Mike MacIntyre said. "Idaho is a good football team that definitely believes they can beat us and we know they can."
