San Jose State vs. New Mexico State final: Spartans win 47-7

The San Jose State Spartans dominated the New Mexico State Aggies with a 47-7 win on the road Saturday. The Spartans took control early by jumping on top 17-0 in the first quarter. They continued to add in the first half and built a 37-0 lead to start the third, allowing them to rest their starters and cruise the rest of the way.

SJSU quarterback David Fales threw just one pass in the second half, but still managed to toss four touchdowns on the day. Wide receiver Chandler Jones had a big game, catching five passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

DeLeon Eskridge supplemented the passing game by gashing the Aggies for 95 yards on just six carries.

The Spartans' defense held NMSU down, but the shutout was foiled late in the fourth quarter as Trevor Walls scored on a 9-yard touchdown pass with 42 seconds to play.

The win pushes San Jose State's record to 8-2, while New Mexico State falls to 1-9.

Box Score Hero: Fales completed 12 of 18 for 275 yards and four scores.

Rankings Ramifications: San Jose State didn't receive any votes in the polls last week, but they may get some this week with their impressive record.

But Did They Cover? The Spartans covered comfortably as they were favored by 21.

Next Week's Schedule: San Jose State gets a test as they host BYU at 10:30 pm ET on Saturday. The Aggies also play BYU next, on Nov. 24.
