San Jose State vs. New Mexico State: Spartans hold 17-0 lead after 1st quarter

The (7-2) San Jose State Spartans hold an early 17-0 lead against the (1-8) New Mexico State Aggies after one quarter of play at Aggie Memorial Stadium in a conference game for the two teams.

The Spartans, who are 3-1 in the conference and need to win in order to keep their hopes alive in the WAC, have had no trouble early against the Aggies, who are winless in conference games this year.

Led by running back De'Leon Eskridge, the Spartans have moved the ball easily in the first quarter. The senior running back had just four carries in the first quarter, but made all of them count, rushing for 72 yards and one touchdown.

Spartans quarterback David Fales followed up with a touchdown of his own as the junior connected with Chandler Jones for 70 yards and the score.

Across from the Spartans, the Aggies have struggled the move the ball or stop anyone defensively. New Mexico State has just three first downs and have not converted a third down yet. Sophomore quarterback Andrew Manley completed just 3 of 9 passes for 20 yards.
