San Jose State vs. Idaho: Spartans take on in-shambles Vandals

The Spartans would make themselves bowl eligible with a win over a struggling Idaho squad.

This Saturday at the Kibbie Dome, the San Jose Spartans will take on an Idaho Vandals squad that is falling apart at the seams, according to Jimmy Durkin of the San Jose Mercury News.

The Vandals (1-7, 1-2 Western Athletic Conference) fired coach Rob Akey a little over a week ago and announced Sunday that starting quarterback Dominique Blackman and linebacker Conrad Scheidt were kicked off the team for violating team rules. in addition, tight end Tyler Elmo was suspended indefinitely for violating an athletic department policy. Idaho is coming off a bye week, but were destroyed by Louisiana Tech, 70-28, in Week 8.

A Spartans (6-2, 2-1 Western Athletic Conference) win in Week 10 would make the team bowl eligible for the first time since 2008. While a victory over the struggling Vandals wouldn't clinch a bowl appearance for San Jose State it would put them in consideration for an appearance with three more opportunities to snatch wins before the regular season concludes.

Kickoff for the Spartans Week 10 game is scheduled for 2 p.m. PT.
