San Jose State vs. Texas State final: Spartans win 31-20

The San Jose Spartans continued their march of improvement with a 31-20 win over the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday afternoon in San Jose.

David Fales threw for 376 yards and two touchdowns for the Spartans, who moved to 6-2 on the season with the win. With four games remaining, San Jose State has already improved its win total from last season. After falling behind 17-10 in the second quarter, the Spartans took the lead in the third quarter when Fales hit David Freeman on a 78-yard touchdown pass.

Running back De'Leon Eskridge got in on the fun as well, adding 134 rushing yards to San Jose State's 571-yard total.

After holding a 20-17 halftime lead, Texas State was held scoreless in the second half. Quarterback Shaun Rutherford was a one-man show for the Bobcats, passing for 130 yards while also the leading rusher with 70 rushing yards.

Box Score Hero: De'Leon Eskridge. San Jose State's normally potent passing offense was magnified with Eskridge's 134 rushing yards.

Rankings Ramifications: San Jose State wasn't receiving any votes and probably still won't, but has prepared a path to start getting votes as an 8-2 record is in sight.

But Did They Cover? San Jose State was favored by 18 points and did not cover.
