After trying to get their hands on the Columbus Blue Jackets' Rick Nash since last season's trade deadline, it looks like the San Jose Sharks could get beaten out for Nash's services by the New York Rangers, according to a tweet from TSN's Darren Dreger.
As much as the Sharks wanted to bring Nash into the fold, they were not willing to add Logan Couture to any of the trade talks. The Blue Jackets wanted Couture, so the talks died.
Nash has been pushing for a trade to a specific list of teams and both the Sharks and Rangers have been listed among his preferred teams. Nash wouldn't go screaming to the hills if he had to play in Columbus again next year, but he still would prefer a trade.
It just looks like Nash's destination will not be in San Jose.
Nash, 27, scored 30 goals and added 29 assists during the 2011-12 campaign for the Blue Jackets.
