San Jose Sharks Expected To Retain Head Coach Todd McLellan

The San Jose Sharks are looking to bring change to their franchise, but do not expect a different head coach next season. According to this story from Kevin Kurz of the Sharks are expected to announce they will keep Todd McLellan around for the 2012-2013 season.

Although nothing is official from San Jose, it's expected that the club will announce Todd McLellan's return within the next few weeks, perhaps with a new or re-tooled staff of assistants. According to reports, McLellan has two years remaining on his contract with the Sharks, although the club does not make that information public.

The story comes following the news that the Vancouver Canucks have retained their head coach, Alain Vigneault, for next season, and the Sharks are expected to follow their lead shortly.

Despite a strong regular season record of 195-92 with the Sharks since 2008, the club has failed to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. For a team that has had as much talent as San Jose has had over the years, it is understandable for the fan base to be hungry for bigger and better results each spring.
