Top Five Sharks Games For The 2010-2011 Season

New, 1 comment

The NHL season is coming. It's not too long now. How about a quick look at some of my most anticipated games this upcoming season?

The Giants and A's are wrapping up the MLB season, the Raiders and 49ers are just getting started, going into week four in the NFL, Cal and Stanford have their football teams going at full steam, the Warriors are getting geared up for the season, and now that I've sufficiently rambled, the San Jose Sharks are in training camp and preseason. Last season, the Sharks charged into the postseason and played well for once, before being taken down by the Blackhawks.

I figure I'll take a look at five games that I myself am looking forward to. These games will likely be different for every one, especially considering my penchant for attaching to random ideas and sticking with it. They're not necessarily the five most entertaining or meaningful games, but five games I'm getting pumped for personally. Let's get to it.

The Opener: Sharks @ Blue Jackets | October 8th, 2010

This is a big one, obviously. The first real, tangible San Jose Sharks hockey. I don't particularly care about the Blue Jackets in any significant way, nor am I more motivated than usual for the Sharks to beat them, for any reason other than the fact that it's the first game of the season. What a day, what a game that will be. I'll be foaming at the mouth in the days leading up to it.

Doesn't Feel Right Until This: Ducks @ Sharks | October 30th, 2010

It won't feel like the NHL season for me as a San Jose Sharks fan until I'm at the Shark Tank watching Anaheim getting the puck beat out of 'em. It's the first time the two teams meet in the upcoming season, and I'm predicting a.... oh... five point victory. Sounds reasonable, don't you think?

Grudge Match: Blackhawks @ Sharks | November 24th, 2010

Every time I see a Blackhawks fan now, I do my best to cough the word "douchebag." I don't really mean it, if any of you happen to read this, but that series killed me a little bit inside. Everything I associated with that series, I got rid of. I threw away the clothes I was wearing. I took a shower and washed off the filth of the losses. I probably broke up with my girlfriend, I don't remember. But this will be the game I want to see. The game I NEED to see. REVENGE!

Measuring Stick: Red Wings @ Sharks | November 30th, 2010

The best way to determine your worth as a team is to play the Red Wings. Every time last season, when the Sharks played them, I got excited. I wanted to see how we stacked up to them. It wasn't always the best result, but to add to how much I love seeing the Sharks play the Red Wings, I was begging for them in the playoffs. Yeah, that's how I roll.

Laying The Smacketh Downeth | Kings @ Sharks | November 15th, 2010

The Sharks should be in for the playoffs. It's basically insanity to think they wouldn't make it. But that Pacific division may be closer than one might think. The Kings will look to keep it interesting, but I'm calling a blowout to put them in their place (read: second) early on in the season.

So they were some brief writeups, and most of the games were early on in the season, well that's what I'm looking forward to most. Surely some things will happen early in the season that will have me on here being a keyboard warrior, spouting about future matchups later in the season and how certain teams will have certain things shoved in certain places. But for now, I can't wait for these five obvious beat-downs.
