The San Jose Earthquakes' Steven Lenhart was outstanding once again In their international friendly with the EPL's Swansea City on Tuesday night, netting two late goals to help the Earthquakes salvage a 2-2 tie at Buck Shaw Stadium.
Lenhart's goals, scored in the 80th and 85th minute respectfully, came just three days after Lenhart netted the equalizer in extra time of a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire and kept the Quakes undefeated at home this season.
He and several other usual Quakes starters, including Shea Salinas, Rafael Baca, Simon Dawkins and Chris Wondolowski, started the game on the bench as coach Frank Yallop gave some of his lesser-used players some minutes during the exhibition match.
The Welsh squad took a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute on a defensive breakdown by the Quakes. Defender Ramiro Corrales played a ball back to goalkeeper David Bingham, but Danny Graham intercepted the pass and put it in the back of the net from about 15 yards out. Chico gave the Swans a 2-0 advantage in the 60th minute, though it wouldn't hold thanks to Lenhart.
Newly acquired midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy started the match for the Quakes after being traded from the New York Red Bulls on Monday.
