San Jose Earthquakes vs. Columbus Crew: Quakes Look to Get Back On Track Against the Crew

The San Jose Earthquakes took the lead atop of the western conference when they pulled off a thrilling 5-3 victory over DC United, scoring the final two go ahead goals in stoppage time. After that win, the Quakes suffered a heart breaking loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps who scored their go ahead goal in stoppage time. Then, looking to get back on track, the Quakes dominated play against Chivas USA last weekend, only to walk away with a draw.

The Quakes hope to get back to their winning ways this week when they host the Columbus Crew. San Jose has not lost a game at Buck Shaw stadium yet this season, and their only draw came at the hands of Chivas USA last weekend. The Crew sit at 3-4-2 overall and have amassed less than half the points of the Quakes this season. While the Crew's defense is not bad, it has scored the third lowest number of goals this season with 8, while the Quakes have scored the second most goals with 22.

After two disappointing finishes over the past few weeks, it is important that the Quakes get back on track against a team that is very beatable. For the Quakes, getting the full three points here is very important. The difference between getting the full points and getting one or no points in games like this where the Quakes are favored, could be the difference between winning the conference and finishing in the middle of the pack.
