Giants Vs. Padres, Game Preview: Tim Lincecum Scratched After Clinching Division

After clinching the NL West title Saturday night against the San Diego Padres, the San Francisco Giants will look to continue their winning ways with a sweep of their division rivals at AT&T Park on Sunday.

The Giants had scheduled Tim Lincecum to take the bump, but after the division-clincher on Saturday, skipper Bruce Bochy has opted to give him some rest and start Yusmeiro Petit. Petit earned a 7-7 record in 28 games for the Fresno Grizzlies this year along with a 3.46 ERA.

As for the Padres, they'll send Eric Stults (6-3, 2.69) who hadn't lost an outing since returning to the rotation on Aug. 6 until his last start. He gave up three runs in six innings of work en route to a 3-2 defeat against Arizona on Tuesday. Stults was 5-0 with a 2.08 ERA in his previous seven starts.

The Giants have now clinched their last three division titles against San Diego. The previous two came on Oct 3, 2010 and Sept. 17, 2003.

First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
