Giants Win NL West Nine Days Prior To Dodgers Series

The San Francisco Giants clinched the National League West title with an 8-4 win over the San Diego Padres on Saturday.

Marco Scutaro went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, and Brandon Belt went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead the Giants.

But it was truly a team effort. Six Giants pitchers made an appearance, including starter Madison Bumgarner, who went 5⅔ innings and allowed five hits and three runs (two earned). He also added an RBI single to his own cause in the second inning.

The Giants were able to secure the division title nine days prior to playing the Los Angeles Dodgers in the final series of the season. It was dubbed the series that would decide the division, but the Giants had different ideas.

They're headed back to the playoffs.
