Giants Vs. Padres: Madison Bumgarner, Clayton Richard Duel In Game 2

The San Francisco Giants took a hard-luck loss thanks to a walk off homer on Wednesday, but turn to the big lefty Madison Bumgarner on Wednesday to get the job done against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park.

Bumgarner is fresh off one of the best games of his career after striking out 11 Cubs while walking none for the first time ever. Petco has not been his favorite stomping ground, owning a 1-2 record there in four starts despite a tidy 2.39 ERA there.

Clayton Richard gets the ball for San Diego, who kept the D-backs in check his last time out with 6 2/3 innings of one run ball on seven hits. Luckily for him he'll be at Petco tonight where he sports a 2.12 ERA, compared to his 6.57 mark away from home.

The key for San Francisco could be stopping Carlos Quentin, whom after his two home runs on Tuesday have him hitting 12-for-23 with nine extra-base hits since being activated from the DL last week. Still, they have the luck on their side when playing these Padres as the Giants have played in 35 games decided by two runs or fewer, the most in MLB. They are 21-14 in such contests.

First pitch is set for 3:35 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
