The San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants are currently on different paths in the NL West. The Pads have lost 11 of their last 13 games while the Giants have won 10 of their last 14 games including a four game sweep against the Cubs in the last series, and now are seven games above .500. Now the Black and Orange head to S.D. looking to keep the good times rolling against the reeling Friars.
Tim Lincecum (2-6, 5.82) takes on the youngster Anthony Bass (2-5, 4.00) on Tuesday night, still searching for what ails him this season. He took another loss in his last start despite seven innings on two-run ball, though put up one of his best outing of the year against them earlier this season after eight strong innings of one run ball. As for Bas, he is fresh off a tough ND after 4.2 innings of work, allowing 5 runs to the Cubs. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
Madison Bumgarner (6-4, 3.04) takes the bump Wednesday against Clayton Richard (2-6, 4.44). Bummy seems to be on the rise again after a four game stint without a victory, though took the W in his last start against the Cubs, and has a win against San Diego under his belt this year as well. As for Richard, he's been having some bad luck this season, proven by his last outing of 7.2 innigns of one-run ball, though his Padres lost 7-1. First pitch is at 3:35 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
Matt Cain (6-2, 2.62) gets the nod in the finale on Thursday against Edinson Volquez (2-5, 3.42). Cainer continues to be lights out after a career high 117 pitches in his last start against Chicago, allowing one run with seven strikeouts en route to his fifth straight win. Volquez hasn't won a game since May 12, getting a ND for his last start of 6 innings on two run ball. First pitch is at 12:35 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
