MLB Draft 2012: Chris Stratton Selected No. 20 Overall By San Francisco Giants

The San Francisco Giants added another terrific arm to their barrage of talent pitchers in their organization as they selected RHP Chris Stratton out of Mississippi State University with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2012 MLB First Year Player Draft.

Stratton was one of 11 college pitchers with 11 wins during the 2012 NCAA regular season and was named the Southeastern Conference pitcher of the year. Stratton is fifth in the SEC with 123 strikeouts and leads the conference with a 2.21 earned run average.

Other pitchers that were Giants first round draft picks include Matt Cain (2002), Tim Lincecum (2006) and Madison Bumgarner (2007). Hopefully he can develop like these three have for the Black and Orange.
