Presswire

One of the most historic rivalries in all of sport return to the shores of McCovey Cove this week as the Los Angeles Dodgers take on their arch nemesis' in the San Francisco Giants.

After getting swept by the Athletics, the Dodgers took just one against the Angels in the Freeway series this weekend, leaving them in a bit of a free fall heading into this matchup as they are 1-5 in their last 6 games. The Giants on the other hand were a half of an inning from sweeping the A's in Oakland themselves in their last series, and are 3-3 in their last 6 games.

San Francisco now finds themselves just three games out of the lead in the NL West, so a home sweep of the boys in blue would be a huge shift in the divisional power struggle.

Youngster Nathan Eovaldi (0-3, 2.35) takes on veteran Barry Zito (5-5, 4.35) Eovaldi remains winless in his five starts though has lasted at least 5.2 innings in each start, while Zito looks to end his current three-game losing streak. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. PT with coverage on NBC Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw (5-3, 2.73) squares off against Ryan Vogelsong (6-3, 2.41) in the second installment of the series. Kershaw took a no decision after eight superb innings of one run ball in his last start, while Vogelsong took his first loss since May 3 in his last start after allowing three runs in seven innings of work. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.

Chad Billingsley (4-6, 4.15) faces Tim Lincecum (2-8, 6.07) in the matinee finale on Wednesday. Billingsley has taken the L for his last two starts, while Timmy hasn't seen a win since April, though showed some signs of improvement with eight K's in six innings in his last start. First pitch is set for 12:45 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
