Matt Cain Named NL Player Of The Week, Brandon Moss Named AL Player Of The Week

In what has to be the crowning achievement of a sterling pitching career, Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants won NL Player of the Week honors.

Cain had this remarkable week where he posted a 0.00 ERA in his one start, striking out 14 batters and not allowing a single hit, walk, or any player on base. 27 Astros went up to bat to face the Giants pitcher, and 27 were set down without a problem. A perfect game, if you will. Worthy of player of the week honors.

It was a Bay Area sweep, as Cain took the NL, and Brandon Moss won the AL Player of the Week. Moss was named AL Player of the Week after putting together an incredible week of power hitting, where he batted .348, knocking in five home runs and batting in 10 RBIs.
