According to multiple sources the San Francisco Giants have officially placed thrid baseman Pablo Sandoval on the disable list sue to a broke hamate bone in his left hand, which will require surgery that is scheduled for tomorrow.
At this point Kung Fu Panda is scheduled to miss about 4-6 weeks of the season; he missed 6 weeks because of a broken hamate in his right hand last season.
Per Andrew Baggarly on Twitter:
Surgery for Sandoval tomorrow. Bochy hoping it won't take full six weeks, but that's how long he needed last year.

Bochy said Sandoval thinks he hurt his hand Sunday. He got X-rays Tuesday that were inconclusive. Tried to play through it.

Getting the surgery out of the way will be important for Sandoval, who had to wait a few days last year before he could get it done. He has been through this before so he'll know what to expect, and will be without any more hamate bones after this surgery, which is a silver lining if there ever was one.
Aubrey Huff will be returning soon, who hopefully can take some of th sting away offensively of losing Sandoval, but it's clear that every one will need to step it up a bit with Panda riding the pine for a while.
