The San Francisco Giants are starting to find their stride, using a well rounded attack lead by Melky Cabrera and Buster Posey to back up aother terrific Ryan Vogelsong start for a 3-1 Black and Orange victory Tuesday night at AT&T Park.
Vogelsong allowed just one run in seven innings of work but got he no decision. Posey's tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning ensured Santiago Casilla would get another save chance, followed by a Joaquin Arais fielder's choice to give the Giants a two-run cushion.
Casilla would earn his 14th save after a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Clay Hensley got his second win of the season for his work in the eighth.
Melky Cabrera continued his torrid start to 2012 after finishing 3-4 on the night, earning his 50th in the eighth, scoring a run as well. That broke Willie Mays' 1958 mark for the most in the month of May in the Giants' San Francisco era.
The Giants conclude their series with Arizona on Wednesday as Ian Kennedy takes on Tim Lincecum in a battle of the aces. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
