Giants Activate Ryan Theriot From DL

The San Francisco Giants will be getting back an important piece to their infield puzzle as veteran Ryan Theriot has been activated from the 15-day disabled list after suffering some elbow problems. In a corresponding move the Giants have sent Charlie Culberson back to Triple-A Fresno.

Before hitting the DL Theriot was and likely will remain the Giants' primary second baseman with Emmanuel Burriss becoming the backup once more. Joaquin Arias will likely see some time over there in the coming weeks as well once Pablo Sandoval returns from his DL stint with a broken hamate bone.

Theriot is batting just .179/.217/.196 in 56 plate apperances this year along with two RBI, but will be another viable infield option and veteran presence in the lineup. Burriss isn't hitting much better though, owning a .202/.269/.202 line in 94 plate appearances.
