Jeremy Affeldt Injury: Giants Reliever Hits DL With Knee Injury

Last season it was a kitchen knife and pair of frozen hamburger patties stuck together that landed San Francisco Giants releiver Jeremy Affeldt on the disabled list. Now in 2012, it was another freak accident that will place him on the shelf, as reported by CSN Bay Area on Tuesday.

Affeldt was injured while picking up his son Walker a few days ago, and after an MRI and a few examinations, the Giants decided to place him on the DL:

"When he jumped, I kind of caught him weird and my knee kind of shifted in a little bit and I felt some pressure on the knee," said Affeldt.

Affeldt is 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA this season.

Austrailian Native Travis Blackley has been called up to be his replacement replacement. So far he's been lights out for Fresno, sporting a 3-0 record with a minuscule 0.39 ERA in three starts and one relief appearance this season.
