Madison Bumgarner has lost just one of his starts this season for the San Francisco Giants, and it came at the hands of the Arizona diamondbacks on opening weekend. The big lefty has won every outing since, and would like to continue that streak Friday as he returns to Chase Field.
Bumgarner (5-1, 2.31) has been the Giants best pitcher this season, lasting at least seven innings in four of his last five starts, allowing just one earned run in each. He's 3-1 lifetime along with a 3.11 ERA in seven games (six starts) against Arizona.
As for the D-backs (1-1, 7.00), they'll send out youngster Patrick Corbin, who despite being less than a month older than Bumgarner is making only his third career start, making his Chase Field debut this evening. Corbin lasted only 3.1 innings in his last start allowing four runs on five hits against the Mets.
Arizona is just 5-10 over their last 15 games, and is currently caught in a five game skid at the moment. Hopefully the Giants can keep them in the cellar this evening.
First pitch is set for 6:40 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
