Giants Recall Reliever Shane Loux From Triple-A Fresno, Ryan Vogelsong Gets Back Injection

According to a report from CSN Bay Area, the San Francisco Giants have called up pitcher Shane Loux from Triple-A Fresno for their upcoming series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, possibly signaling a few changes/issues in the giants pitching staff.

Loux's presence in Arizona with the Giants' big league club could mean a number of things.

It's possible that with the suspension of long-reliever Guillermo Mota that the team wants to carry a 12th pitcher.

Ryan Vogelsong reportedly received an injection in his back. There is no evidence to support it, but it's possible Loux is an insurance policy, should Vogelsong's back respond poorly.

Vogelsong dealt with a back strain for most of the spring after injuring himself lifting in early March, but this was apparently for 'maintenance,' which will keep and flare ups in check.

As for Loux, 32 has been with the Giants organziation for the last few seasons, and has been very solid out of the bullpen for the Grizzlies this year. He currently owns a 3-1 record with a 0.43 ERA, allowing only two runs (one earned) in 21 innings of work in his 13 appearances this season. He spent a few seasons in the majors playing 14 games with the Tigers in 2002-03, and the Angels for 25 appearances in 2008-09.
