As the San Francisco Giants prepare to return for the second time this season to Chase Field to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks, a lot has already changed for both clubs. Pablo Sandoval and Brian Wilson are gone for the G-Men, while Chris Young and Daniel Hudson are currently out for Arizona. Both have had their far share of struggles as of late, though they'll look to take their frustrations out each other this weekend in a three game series.
Madison Bumgarner (5-1, 2.31) takes the bump in the series opener Friday, taking fellow lefty Patrick Corbin (1-1, 7.00). Bummy is white hot after winning his last five starts in a row, and likely will be hungry to erase the loss he took here in his first start if the year, giving up four runs in seven innings of work. As for Corbin, who is less than a month older that Bumgarner at the age of 22, had a short stint in his last outing in New York, giving up fou runs in 3.1 innings pitched. First pitch is set for 6:40 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
Saturday, will have Matt Cain (1-2, 2.38) facing off against former Oakland A's pitcher Trevor Cahill (2-3, 3.26). Cain has pitched much better than his record would prove, getting a no decision after seven strong innings against the Brewers in his last start, keeping them to two runs along with 10 strikeouts. Cahill took a hard luck loss of his own in his last time out, keeping the Mets to three runs on five hits in seven innings. First pitch is at 5:10 with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
Sunday's finale will have Barry Zito (1-1, 2.21) taking on Joe Saunders (2-2, 2.50). Zito seems to be reverting back to his median of mediocrity, giving up eight hits and three runs in six innings against the Dodgers in his last start, while Saunders got shelled for 9 hits and seven runs in 3.1 innings or work against the Cardinals his last time out. First pitch is at 1:10 pm with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
