After a bit of an up and down start for the San Francisco Giants on the road, they finally return to AT&T Park for thier first home series of 2012, playing host to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Matt Cain takes the bump in the opener Friday, still looking for his first win of the season after a rough first start in Arizona. He'll be facing off against the Pirates James McDonald, also looking for his first win. A tribute to the 1962 Giants will take place before the game as well. Some rainy conditions are also threatening Friday's game, but since only 5 games have ever been rained out at AT&T, I wouldn't count on it.
Barry Zito gets the ball on Saturday, hoping to keep his streak going after his improbable complete game shutout against the Rockies on Tuesday. He has drawn Charlie Morton, making his first start after being placed on the DL at the beginning of the month. This will be the first evening game of the season at AT&T with first pitch set for 6:05.
Sunday will have Ryan Vogelsong making his season debut after starting 2012 on the DL as well, making the start against his former team for the second straight season. He'll take on former Padre and All-Star Kevin Correia, who also is looking for his first victory of 2012.
Despite having only two wins, the Giants have scored a minimum of four runs in each game this season. They struggled mightily to score at home last season, but hopefully this new found offense will lead to some sighs of relief for Giants pitchers this weekend. First pitch is 1:05 p.m. PT.
