Jeremy Affeldt Slices Hand While Handling Beef, Done For The Year

As if the San Francisco Giants hadn't had a season full of unbelievable injuries, this one might just take the cake.

Reliever Jeremy Affeld sliced his right hand open while separating frozen burger patties with a knife (seriously), cutting it so bad that he ended up damaging a nerve and required surgery to repair it. This most bizarre an injury will leave him on the sidelines for the remainder of the season, leaving another hole in the Giants bullpen. Affeldt had a 2.63 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 61.2 innings pitched this season, along with a 54/24 K/BB ratio, a 3-2 record and three saves thus far for the Giants.

This was the last news the Black and Orange needed, but could you really expect anything less? This has been an outrageous year for San Francisco on the injury front, and with all due respect and genuine concern for Affeldt, there isn't much more you can do but shrug your shoulders and laugh.

Un-friggin-believable.
