Giants vs. D'Backs Preview: Ryan Vogelsong Out For Rubber Match Win

After their deflating 7-2 loss at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday night, the San Francisco Giants need to get a win today if only to feel like they still have a chance in the NL West, and will look to Ryan Vogelsong to do so.

Vogelsong (10-5 2.63 ERA) has lost his previous three starts in a row, including five innings of three run ball against the Cubs his last time out. Vogey has some success against Arizona, allowing only one run on five hits in six innings of work on August 3 against the D-backs at AT&T, hopefully getting a similar result this time around.

Facing Vogelsong will be Daniel Hudson (14-9 3.61 ERA), who threw seven shutout innings spraying three hits along the way to cruise to a 5-1 victory over Colorado in his last time out. Hudson has a 1-2 record and a 3.48 ERA against San Francisco this season.

worth noting :  Aubrey Huff, Pablo Sandoval and Carlos Beltran have combined for a .355 batting average with six home runs and 20 RBIs against the D-backs this season, while Daniel Hudson ranks first with a .309 average, 17 hits, 14 RBIs and a .467 average with runners in scoring position amongst all pitchers in MLB.

First pitch is set for 1:05 pm PT with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
