Tuesday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers certainly hurt the San Francisco Giants playoff chances in a big way, but they aren’t dead in the water yet, sending out All-Star Ryan Vogelsong to the mound for a little redemption from the Boys in Blue.
Vogelsong (11-7 2.68 ERA) earned his first win in about a month last week against the Rockies, throwing five and 1/3 innings of two run ball during the G-Men’s 8-5 win at Coors Field. He’d taken the loss is his previous five starts.
The Dodgers will counter with Dana Eveland (2-1 2.25 ERA), who kept the Giants scoreless in seven innings of work on September 10 at AT&T and is looking to do the same this evening at Dodger Stadium.
Currently sitting 5.5 games behind the first-place Diamondbacks in the NL West and 4.5 games back of the Wild Card leading Atlanta Braves, the Black and Orange are running out of chances to get into the playoffs, and any losses from here on in will almost certainly drop them from contention.
First pitch is set for 7:10 pm PT this evening with coverage on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 680 AM.
